This year, midwifery students are hard at work preparing activities for May 5 – International Day of the Midwife. For the fifth year in a row, they invite us to a charity midwifery run through the center of Ljubljana.

Here’s their invitation:

THURSDAY, 5.5.2016, at 4:30 PM at Prešeren Square!
The event is for all generations, from the youngest to the oldest. We’ll run at a moderate pace, or you can walk the approximately 2.5 km route.

Before the main run starts at 4:30 PM, together with the rescue team from the Faculty of Health Sciences, we’ll demonstrate basic resuscitation procedures for children and adults, and then Ditka’s performance will warm us up and get us ready for the run.

Why did midwives choose May 5?
Because it’s International Day of the Midwife and it’s celebrated around the world in different ways! We chose to celebrate with a RUN!

THERE IS NO ENTRANCE FEE! But the event has a CHARITABLE purpose, as we students will be collecting voluntary contributions for the safe house for women and children in Ljubljana.

We invite everyone to join us at 10:00 AM, when 4 EDUCATIONAL BOOTHS will be set up at Prešeren Square, where we midwifery students will try to answer various questions you may have about contraception, menstruation, menopause, pain relief during childbirth, and handling or caring for a newborn.
We’ll do our best to answer all your questions!”
