Childbirth is an extremely physically demanding event, so it is all the more important for a woman to be properly hydrated. Choose your own recipe for a hydration drink that will refresh you during labor, keep you properly hydrated, and give you the strength to keep going. The core of these drinks are lemon, honey, salt, water, and minerals.
- 1 L water
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 crushed calcium tablets OR a teaspoon of baking soda
- a pinch of cayenne pepper
Calcium will dissolve more easily in warm water. You can use Ca/Mg/vit D (effervescent) tablets if you have them at home, or just a teaspoon of baking soda.
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup honey (or more to taste)
- a few drops of concentrated mineral drops (optional) – or another form of minerals
- rescue remedy (optional)
It is important that salt is added to your hydration drink. These drinks are also suitable after childbirth.
