From 1 – 7. Every year, World Breastfeeding Week takes place in August.
In 2016, WABA launched a 15-year journey to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by linking each of these goals to breastfeeding. But we cannot achieve sustainable development without multi-stakeholder partnerships at all levels.
In my opinion, the #WBW2017 message is very powerful:
“World Breastfeeding Week 2017 highlights working together (collaboration) for the common good! This creates sustainable results that are greater than the sum of our individual efforts!”
#WBW2017 aims to bring together advocates and activists, policymakers and others to create new partnerships in order to gain political support, media attention, youth participation, and expand the circle of celebrities and other supporters.
– In WBW2016, they learned how protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding is crucial for sustainable development.
– They grouped the 17 goals into four thematic areas that are interconnected and linked to breastfeeding. These four groups help define the work in the context of the set goals.
– WBW 2017 will provide a platform for long-term collaboration.

What will be happening in Slovenia during World Breastfeeding Week?
On World Breastfeeding Day, Wednesday, August 2, 2017, the Association of Lactation and Breastfeeding Consultants of Slovenia will support the installation of the first breastfeeding bench in Slovenia. You’re warmly invited to join us on Wednesday, 2 August, at 11:00 at Ljubljana Zoo, where our members will be available with advice for successful breastfeeding. On the same day, at 16:00, we are also organizing a meet-up for pregnant women and breastfeeding mums at the City Beach in Celje. The association is also preparing a range of activities for October, when Breastfeeding Week will take place in Slovenia and most European countries. You’re welcome!
In various locations across Slovenia, the DOJIVA.SE FESTIVAL will take place with this year’s slogan #normalnoje.
